Trial By Fire True Story

Trial by Fire is based on the true story of Lou Ann Hogan.

Tidbits
If you will read through some of the comments, they are quite interesting. This is one of the only movies where so many people disagree with the movie.

  1. I was fascinated by this movie. It is hard to believe that so many people would be taken in by rumors and gossip, but then maybe not so hard to believe. People seem to enjoy a good scandal and the more extravagant and lurid the details, the better. Often the truth gets buried with media promoting sensational stories of gossip to the point that the defendant remains guilty as charged without getting a fair trial. On a more personal level, my daughter is a math teacher on the high school level and she is also very attractive. She has had many male students try to flirt with her, usually in a very innocent manner, but what if this same thing happened to her when trying to help a student? It just makes me cringe to think of this happening. I can only hope that the county where I live would be able to deliver the facts and not entertain the gossip mongers.

  2. I was a student of hers in the 1987-88 school year. I don't know for a fact that they had sex but any teacher who wears a black leather miniskirt, fishnet hose and low cut sweaters to school and then asks male students to stand on her desk to adjust a/c vents knowing those boys are looking down her shirt deserves any controversy that follows her.

  3. Where do u people live because I want to make sure I never end up visiting or moving there, I cannot stand how people most of the time rich people think they can concoct a story to suite them, you people don't care about anyone but yourselves, you should have been so lucky to have a teacher that cared so much about her staudents and if you want to say something about what she's wearing I wonder if that same stigma should have been applied to the female students with them wearing the things that they wore and being promiscuous and drinking and doing all kinds of drugs....I just don't understand hipocrites, and you can't tell me you people don't do those things because I went to private schools most of my life and the ones that had a free ride to school meaning your parents can pay up front where the ones trying to get me involved in their bullshit, my brother also went to an all white private/catholic school and he had the same troubles and most of this revolves around your parents because they don't give enogh of a damn to be bothered with you so you think its okay to treat people the way you are being treated...ugh you all disgust me and I will never teach my daughter to be such an uncaring person, what's good for your kind is just that good for your kind you could care less about someone trying to make a difference, what do you suppose she be uncaring, strict, intollerant, bitchy, then she would have been the teacher that didn't give a fuck or the mean teacher...smh, you people are crazy, I come from a middle class family and a good upbringing and I can only wish we had teachers or people like that, genuine people, you along with all you other "rich people" should be ashamed of yourselves and just so you know karma is a bitch hunny, and you all better hope you all don't have kids cause the same hell you all put that poor teacher through will come back one way or another but then again you people don't care about anything but yourselves anyway. I pray that woman has found her way and went somewhere where she can be apprecited because clearly she wasn't appreciated where she was at....smh

  4. Wow, you people will believe anything you see on a screen apparantly. Don't judge anyone unless you were there - I was. These kids accusing her were not all rich kids - most were middle class. They had nothing to gain by accusing her and were torn apart by the media and public who couldn't believe a teacher would ever do that. Ms. Hogan didn't care about her students - I was one of them. She acted like she was still in high school - she wasn't far from it at the time. She hung out with the popular kids and went to their parties. She didn't put much time and effort into her teaching. She wasn't one of these teachers who cared about her students - I had lots of those, I know the difference. Those were great teachers who made a big difference in my life. DO NOT put her in the same category. That is an insult to them. Anyone believing in the garbage in this film probably also believes Tim Allen really is Santa Clause!

  5. Much like Donna and Kelly, I was there too. And they're right; if you weren't there your opinion means jack shit. I wasn't in Lou Ann's classes but plenty of my friends were and I saw her on a regular basis. Chad, Scott, Taylor and Jeff were all friends I grew up with and played football with for years. My two vivid personal recollections of Lou Anne were 1. seeing her coming down the stair well one day in a super short skirt with a sheer top that let her titties jingle-jangle about; which was pretty hot, but horribly unprofessional, and 2. seeing her making out for half the game with one of my 16 year old classmates (who will remain nameless) in the Clark - Churchill varsity game at Alamo stadium in late 1987. Not under the bleachers mind you, but in the stands where planty of people saw. One of my teachers (who will also remain nameless) also saw Lou Ann at the stadium with the nameless student and reported the incident to the Clark administration. Those administrators (principal and vice-principal) chose to ignore this and other allegations as to what Lou Ann was up to. They weren't bad people at all but in 1987 this was almost unheard of behavior from a teacher. I knew about Chad boning her long before any of this became news, and of course we 16 year old boys thought it was pretty cool. In fact one of the other guys (also nameless) was bringing a video camera to one of Chad's bone-sessions but then had to bow out for a hunting trip; too bad! He invited the guys to watch through his bedroom window while she blew him, and of course he insisted on keeping the blinds open and the lights on. Once Chad killed himslef and Lou Ann was implicated, she ditched the short mini-skirts and tittie-tops for nun-like outfits with big, conspicuous crosses. The media and the know-nothing fools ate it up in the ensuing media circus. Lou Anne had sexual relations with no less than three of my classmates, and probably more (Chad, Nameless, and Randy Browder). Randy unfortunately, killed himself too almost a year after Chad. I was told at the time he had left a suicide note referencing his relationship with Lou Anne. Long story short, Lou Anne Hogan was and is a scum-bag. Her husband was either blinded by his faith in her or a retard, or both. As a 16 year old, it sounded cool for a bunch of my 16 year old high school guy friends to bone their hot teacher, but as an adult years later, I know there's a reason why it's illegal for adults to consort with minors. It's too much for them to handle and bad things happen. Chad was a great kid even though he had problems and I have often thought of what he would have done with himself if he could have gotten beyond this crisis. For those of us who knew him, his suicide was a hammer blow. Knowing that Lou Ann was a big part of his problems, and watching her manipulate the gullible fools, was the added insult to the injury. If you weren't there, keep your mouth shut because your opinion means nothing.

  6. Just stumbling upon this. Agree with the others who were there. Just because a jury acquits someone, doesn't mean they are innocent (casey Anthony!) I had Lou Ann as a teacher as well. She partied with her students and took X and worked her ways with the boys right in front of everyone . RIP Chad and Randy. She will face judgment one day.
